Sonic Youth At Heart

About a year ago while glued to the youtube one late evening, I found myself delving into the depths of some old Sonic Youth footage. I was completely shocked and delighted when I found a video of some old fogies (that weren't Sonic Youth) calling themselves Young@Heart performing "Schizophrenia."

Turns out these geriatric jams reach beyond Sonic Youth to Gloria Gaynor, the Ramones, etc. Led by choral director, Bob Cilman,Young@Heart are ages 70+ and formed at an elderly housing project in Northhampton, Massachusetts. Their musical expertise runs the gamut from burlesque to pro theatre to none-at-all. Regardless of their musical experience, they are all on the same page about rockin' out.

Riding the train to work this morning, I looked down at someone's paper to see an ad for a feature length film on the group. It debuted in NYC on April 8th and is playing in Chelsea and Union Square!
